So I fixed mine, swapped all the valves and fitted wheels. The only other BC30 in the store had its reverb stuck on full. Some clot had forced one of the 6L6GC into its seat folding one of the connectoids down. I took it back and exchanged it for an Epi BC30, and lo, its valves were loose too. It was a good job I checked it over when I got it home - all the valves were loose and they had to be reseated a few times before they would play cleanly. Re new amps having problems: I recently got a Fender BJ, it was a boxed one. There may be somebody out there who has GAS for an item and you can give them the cash they need, and walk away with a good amp. I also did a bright cap mod which was free, took 10 minutes, and makes the amp more pedal friendly. I replaced the reverb tank which is a must. Since they cost more new then maybe financing is your route to go and you will help the economy.
I have never sat down with a DRRI but they come highly recommended. If you buy new you could probably finance for a year with no payments and no interest. Mine is a couple years old and I have had no problems at all. There newer models seem to be back on track. It does not take a lot of searching to figure that out.
Several years ago there were reliability issues.
